System Administrator
Monday – Friday
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serve as system administration for district applications and/or software.
- Interact with district personnel to identify, evaluate and plan technology initiatives.
- Manage IT project phases including needs assessment, priority-setting and delivery of project results including resources, timelines, workload planning, and budgets.
- Assist in the development of department budget and monitor expenditures.
- Serve as a technical team lead for the Office of Assessment, Accountability, and Technology Innovation.
- Work with the Technology Coordinator and Assistant Superintendent of Assessment, Accountability, and Technology Innovation to ensure systems and/or applications meet New York State Law Section 2-d requirements as well as district policies and procedures.
- Assume delegated responsibilities from the Technology Coordinator to make project and/or team decisions.
- Maintain systems document and provide knowledge sharing to members of the Office of Assessment, Accountability, and Technology Innovation.
- Evaluate new applications as they pertain to the district, and make recommendations to the Technology Coordinator.
- Identify areas of technology and/or policy improvement, and make recommendations to the Technology Coordinator.
- Serve as a point of escalation for any applicable help desk problems.
- Other duties may be assigned
Essential Skills and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to facilitate teams; ability to work well with administrators, teachers, students, and parents; thorough understanding and technical knowledge of current network and PC operating systems, hardware, protocols and standards; thorough knowledge of IT strategic planning and development, project management, and policy development.

General Statement: This senior position, under direction of the Technology Coordinator, requires the exercise of considerable independent judgment in coordinating, organizing, and planning technology initiatives throughout the district. This position will also require an individual with thorough knowledge of systems and software utilized in an education setting, including but not limited to, SchoolTool, Lightspeed, Google Administrator Console, and any other applications and/or systems the district may utilize; ability to analyze complex problems, evaluate alternatives and make sound technical recommendations; ability to function independently, and communicate clearly orally and in writing; must be able to work collaboratively as a member of a team; ability to act as a team lead for management confidential staff; ability to perform the essential functions of the position in a reasonable manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems and six (6) years of experience in the operation of an information technology department of which two (2) years must include experience in system administration and/or computer applications; OR
- Graduation from high school, or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and ten
(10) years of experience in the operation of an information technology department of which five (5) years must include experience in system administration and/or computer applications
