General Statement:
The purpose of the club is to serve young African American men who face severe challenges affecting their pursuit of college and/or career readiness. This program will support up to 30 African American male students affording them opportunities to continue to be successful in high school. This partnership will be the vehicle in which African American mentors assist students in navigating academic, behavioral and social issues.
Responsible for building administration and the safety and welfare of both students and staff Interacts with students and mentors to encourage the highest level of performance African American role model in the Albany community to engage students in connectedness to school and Albany communities Provides support and positive experiences in student motivation, goal-setting and self-advocacy/regulating skills Supports mentors in preparing college/career experiences for students
Supports mentors in developing student leadership skills for school/community involvement Focus on setting a good example to mentors and students, providing advice and solutions Coordinates/facilitates weekly meetings between students and mentors Chaperones field trips both locally and out of town.
