K-12 Music TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment) - Tony Clement Center for Education

The K-12 Music TOSA is passionate about music education and committed to fostering a love of music in students of all ages and backgrounds. As the K-12 Music TOSA, you will play a key role in supporting the district's music programs and collaborating with educators, administrators, and community partners to ensure equitable access to music education for all students. The K-12 Music TOSA reports directly to the K-12 Fine Arts Supervisor.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist the K-12 Fine Arts Supervisor in developing and implementing a comprehensive music curriculum aligned with state and national standards.
• Collaborate with music teachers across the district to provide support, resources, and professional development opportunities to enhance instructional practices.
• Assist the K-12 Fine Arts Supervisor in coordinating district-wide music events, performances, and competitions, including concerts, festivals, recitals, and visiting artists.
• Assist in the selection, procurement, delivery, and maintenance of musical instruments, equipment, and materials for music programs.
• Support the integration of technology and multimedia resources into music instruction to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that celebrates cultural diversity and encourages student participation and creativity.
• Provide instructional coaching to music educators, student teachers, and substitutes to support professional growth and development.
• Collaborate with the K-12 Fine Arts Supervisor, school building leaders, parents, and community stakeholders to advocate for the importance of music education and secure resources and funding for music programs.

 

 

Job Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Music Education or related field preferred.
• Valid teaching certification in Music Education.
• Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in K-12 music education.
• Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and pedagogy across multiple genres and styles.
• Experience in planning and organizing musical events and performances.
• Experience working in an urban school setting and serving diverse student populations.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills with a positive attitude.
• Motivated teacher leader, self-starter, with a growth mind-set.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.
