General Statement:

The Instructional Math Coach serves as a resource to provide job-embedded professional support to stakeholders to enhance and expand a repertoire of strategies that can be used to improve student achievement in Mathematics. The Math Coach has demonstrated a level of commitment and enthusiasm to personal professional practice and is looking to advance these skills for themselves and their colleagues. The Math Coach is a member of the K5 STEM Department assigned to work at building(s) within the district. The Math Coach is not an administrator or supervisor.

Responsibilities:                              

  • Provide professional support through the six defined ACSD methods; individual coaching cycles, small group coaching cycles, modified studio, consultation, resource support, and PD/PLC sessions

    • Engage in ongoing professional development to study, research, and reflect upon best practices to share with various stakeholders

    • Access, analyze and provide support around the range of available District assessments, including New York State assessments

    • In collaboration with the K-5 Instructional STEM Supervisor, the math coach will actively work to support district-wide curriculum implementation. This work includes but is not limited to curriculum writing, report card revisions, resource review and selections, distribution of math manipulative, as well as any other ACSD curriculum protocols and initiatives

    • Manage an assigned caseload as demonstrated through required professional, electronic record keeping such as individual coaching cycle logs and the professional support log

    • Attend bi-weekly Math meetings as organized by the K-5 Instructional STEM Supervisor

    • Actively participate, implement and model any District-Wide initiatives around student achievement including working directly with the building Math Interventionist(s) to support Math RtI and the use of both BRIDGES and math center games

    • Offer ongoing assessments / evidence of their own professional progress and complete a formal observation of the work

General Statement:

The Elementary Instructional Coach serves as a resource to provide job-embedded professional support to stakeholders in an effort to enhance and expand a repertoire of strategies that can be used to improve student achievement in ELA & Social Studies. The Elementary Instructional Coach has demonstrated a level of commitment and enthusiasm to personal professional practice and is looking to advance these skills for themselves and their colleagues. The Elementary Instructional Coach is a member of the Elementary Curriculum and Instruction Department assigned to work at building(s) within the district. The Coach is not an administrator or supervisor.

Responsibilities:                              

• Provide professional support through the six defined CSDA methods; individual coaching cycles, small group coaching cycles, modeling, data teaming and assessment, PD/PLC sessions, and instructional resource supports. (full description of each method available at interview) 

• Coach must be able to fully support technology integration within a virtual instructional world. Coach will provide assistance to teachers with Clever, Wonders, Lexia, Nearpod, Seesaw, and the Google Suite of applications. Coach must be proficient in the creation of Google classrooms and spreadsheets. 

• Engage in ongoing professional development to study, research, and reflect upon best practices to share with various stakeholders. 

• Access, analyze and provide support around the range of available CSDA assessments, including New York State assessments 

• In collaboration with the Instructional Supervisors and other Coaches, the Elementary Instructional coach will actively work to support district-wide curriculum and assessment development. This work includes but is not limited to: lesson plan writing, curriculum writing, report card revisions, textbook/resource review and selection, NGMS alignment, distribution of physical resources, as well as any other CSDA curriculum protocols and initiatives. 

• Manage an assigned caseload as demonstrated through required professional, electronic record keeping such as individual coaching cycle logs and the professional support log. • Maintain google district assessment spreadsheets for each assign building including entering student data, analyzing grade and building data trends, and reviewing data from spreadsheets with teacher(s) to provide support for Tier 1, 2, & 3 instructional planning and resource modifications. 

• Work in collaboration with District Coaches, Site Principals, and the K-5 Humanities Instructional Supervisors. Participate in required meetings as organized by the Instructional Supervisors. 

• Actively participate, implement and model any District-Wide initiatives around professional support and student achievement. Currently this could include; CPT meetings, MTSS committees, and/or building level leadership team membership. 

• Offer ongoing assessments and evidence of their own professional progress and complete a formal observation of the work.

  • Review data from multiple sources (BRIDGES progress monitoring probes, formative assessments, summative assessments, NWEA, State Test, Benchmarks) to determine the needs of each student assigned for support.
  • Assist in the administering of grade-level benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with Classroom Teachers, Math Coach, and Instructional Supervisor to identify high-leverage strategies and practices to enhance learning.
  • Progress monitor students at least twice per quarter using BRIDGES assessments. (Training around BRIDGES will be provided).
