General Statement:                        

This would be a grant funded position through the state UPK grant that we receive, so it would not impact the general fund. The funding has been set aside within the grant for the salary and fringe of this position for 2024-2025. Although we re-apply each year for the funding, the grant does not expire.

  • Strengthen the Birth-3yo Early Childhood Department presence in the community, as aligned to The Basics
  • Strengthen the home school connection for PK3 and PK4 families ? Increase the understanding of the importance of the prekindergarten school years in kindergarten readiness and future school success
  •  Strengthen the transition into Pre-K and from Pre-K to Kindergarten ? Implementing transition plan ? Opportunities for families to become connected to neighborhood schools/magnets
  • Assist with strategies to increase daily attendance in targeted elementary schools and CBO’s; HSC will build relationships and work with families to strengthen their understanding of importance of attending school every day and on time, and assist with determining barriers that impact this.
  • Working directly with HSC’s at the elementary buildings to align the work across our department and all HSCs.
  •  Collaborate with Assistant Director regarding attendance
  •  Collaborate with parents and teachers to provide support and resources for families and/or students
  •  With support from the Early Childhood Department, organize and facilitate relevant meetings, workshops, and events for parents and families
