Secondary Instructional Supervisor ELA, Reading & Library

1. Works with building administrators and teachers to develop the philosophy and goals of the ELA curriculum.
2. Coordinates and evaluates the curriculum and instructional program and makes appropriate changes when necessary.
3. Participates in planning, distributing, and monitoring the ELA program budget
4. Works with outside educational authorities and regulatory bodies on content-related initiatives
5. Formulates and implements professional development activities which address curriculum needs.
6. Develops materials to enhance the instructional program
7. Works directly with classroom teachers to enrich instruction
8. Researches a variety of textbooks and materials and makes recommendations for purchase
9. Oversees state testing

Supervisory Responsibilities: The Instructional Supervisor supervises content-area faculty members and carries out these responsibilities in accordance with the district's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and solving problems.
